- Abstract
- Soil Types (WRBRSG - V1.0): The existence of diverse environments in terms of relief, climatic conditions, geologic features, vegetation, and land use patterns results in the formation and presence of different soil types in Ethiopia. In order to update the coarse FAO soil map of Ethipia, MoA in collaboration with GIZ, Bioversity-CIAT and CoW has gathered thousands of legacy soil procile data from various sources which were collected by several projects for various purposes in different times (1960 - 2020). The data was preprocessed and harmonized to produce 18 soil types (WRBRSGs) using robust machine learning model. The model output and predicted maps were further validated and refined based on inputs gathered from national and international experts.
