Abstract

These dataset (*.tif and *.png) regarded as EthioSoilGrids version 1.1 is WRB RSGs which is an extension of EthioSoilGrids version 1.0 by Ali et al., 2024. The soil type maps (WRB RSGS) from the first version were revised and updated following an improved predictive soil modelling and mapping framework, including implementation of recursive feature elimination and decorrelation of covariates. Hence, the area coverage and spatial patterns of the soil types presented in the revised version 1.1 may vary from version 1.0 journal article published by Ali et al., 2024. Along with the *.tif file, which is based on the most probable soil types, users are urged to use occurrence probability maps of each RSGs. Further, legend key, accuracy statistics, and variable importance of version 1.1 are available on NSIS as supplementary documents.

The original modeling output (GeoTIFF file) was on Lambert azimuthal equal-area projection with the latitude of origin at 8.65 and center of meridian at 39.64. However, to fit into NSIS portal requirement, the modeling out is re-projected to GCS WGS 84 reference system.
